and the sheeple spoke

Im so fed up with the American Sheeple. Why are they so afraid of someone who has smart answers, who talks eloquently? Why do the sheeple not like smart people? I don't care about joe six pack, or hockey moms, sure they might be fun to hang around and crack open a beer with, however do you really want the Team Mom in such a position of power? Do you think Joe Six pack really understands world politics and the intricacies of our economy and our domestic infrastructure?

Yet the sheeple want someone that they feel on an intellectual par with. Why? Since when did being smart and being able to talk with authority become a liability?

I want my president to be Smarter than me. I want him to be able to make wise well thought out decisions. I don't want a maverick. I want someone who thinks before they act.

Everyday I watch my country slip further and further into chaos. I see small minded people who think because this man has a strange name he might be a terrorist, or (gasp) a Muslim. Really? I don't think every Mexican named Jesus is the son of God or has christ like tendencies.

Why is noone really making a big deal out of Palins church affiliations? The youtube clip of her having the laying of hands to remove the influences of withcraft has been all over the interwebs. But her cuteness and everyday hockeymom persona has hypnotized the sheeple. they connect with her. they feel comfortable with her, because she doesnt use big fancy words. she speaks a simple language and the sheeple respond.

Im inclined to agree with Bill Maher, the average american voter is stupid. It's a harsh statement.. I know it's a harsh statement, but some of the interviews and video clips of McCain/Palin supporters scare me.

Those of you in the states that are eligible to vote I urge you to go out and vote. This election is very pivotal for setting the tone and future of our Nation.

AMEN brother!

I am often surprised by people whom I previously thought were pretty bright... when they reveal their unflinching support of Bush/Cheney and/or McCain/Palin.

I hope that this election proves me wrong, but I do believe that the average american voter is stupid. And let's not forget LAZY. Would it kill someone to actually research issues rather than automatically taking some talking head's point of view?

Rrrrrrgh, I'm getting all riled up. ;)

Sheeple are ba-aa-aa-ad. Not evil, just unthinking, beyond, I think I'll have another beer, or cool, I'd so do vice-president HMILF...I remember a term from a number of years back- "the cult of personality." We thought, or hoped, that it had dried up, maybe been eaten by it's own snakes, but I fear it's alive & well. And so, so many Americans are sucked into it, so that come election time, it's not about intelligence or about being worthy, it's about personality. And it's not even real personality. People like the idea of a "maverick" & a rebel, but they don't see beyond the idea to the person & what that person says & does.
I'm all for intelligence.
I also have a deeply ingrained pessimism at this point. I'd love to see real change. I certainly hear talk of change, but in the end, same bullshit- at least that's my fear. I like Lewis Black's idea. Vote for Santa. How much damage can a pretend person do? Not to mention, what kind of mesage would that send to the various political parties? We'd rather have a pretend president (OK, we've sorta had one for the last 8 years- I mean, more pretend) than the same shit different talking head we've been getting for years.
Maybe this year will be different...
...I wonder what it takes to become a Canadian citizen...

I drink to that...... oh wait... goshdarnit. you tricked me.

it's frustrating and nerve-racking.

we'll see if they learned anything... :fingerscrossed:
im hoping that this election proves me wrong as well. I'd like to have back some of the sense of optimism I once had when it came to the american voter.

and if not, i guess ill go get my violin tuned so i can fiddle away while rome burns

You have a great point. The republicans and their current base know how to use that cult of personality. They know just the right talking points that push certain buttons in people.

Of course we like a rebel-- our nation was founded on rebellion. However this type of rebel, this maverick is not what we need right now. We need someone that Makes intelligent well thought out decisions. We need someone that understands the third world is emerging and that this global community is ever changing and evolving.

It's my cynicism that I have watched grow. And yes I would love for there to be real genuine change. I think there should be a 'none of the above' choice when it comes to voting.

Whenever I read commentary from McCain/Palin supporters at town hall meetings and such, it's absolutely terrifying. These people hate Obama, really really legitimately hate him (and me, too, then.) I don't hate McCain or Palin. I think McCain is untrustworthy and that Palin is just plain stupid, but I don't hate them. Maybe the media is only highlighting the most extreme commentary they can find, but it makes supporters of the republican party come off as a real bunch of assholes.
